“Hammerin’ Hank” Passes the Babe!

On April 8th, 1974, Hank Aaron hit his 715th career home run, placing him ahead of the legendary slugger Babe Ruth. A record that remained untouched for 33 years, until it was ultimately broken by Barry Bonds.

Hammerin’ Hank's historic blast is one the the most famous moments in sports. The iconic home run will forever be part of baseball's lore.

Every time I see the footage, of the record breaking home run, I think of three things:
  1. Those two hippie do-nothings will forever be famous for running onto the field and congratulating Hank. A stunt like that would never be allowed to happen today!
  2. What could possibly be going through Hank's mind? He had just broken one of the most coveted personal achievements in sports.
  3. My brother. He was always a big Hank Aaron fan.

After 23 seasons the "Hammer" retired an all-time great!
